This year for their annual trip, the CHS chorus is traveling to New York City.
While there they will attend a Broadway show, tour the city, and perform at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine. This gothic cathedral is the largest in the world, and offers one of a kind acoustics, summoning a beautiful sound from all who perform. The chorus will sing selections from various composers, including Mozart and Handel.
There will be many times in student’s lives when we will visit NYC, however few of these trips will be under the circumstances that will grant them the opportunity of performing in such a building as Saint John the Divine Cathedral.
The chorus opted to spend more time walking the streets and experiencing the city as opposed to a guided bus tour. During this time they will visit Times Square, Central Park, the Empire State Building, the Financial District, Upper Manhattan, Chinatown, and take a tour of NBC Studios.
Students will also have the option to visit several different museums. The trip to New York City promises to combine the thrill of the city with education and performance.
The date to sign up has almost come and gone. CHS chorus will be on the trip to New York from March 23rd until March 27th, the week after spring break.
This trip is not exclusively confined to chorus students; members of other musical classes are attending as well.
