By Cookeville Times

Last spring, the CHS Advanced Choir, under the direction of Mr. Choate, performed for the Tennessee School Boards Association Convention in Nashville, TN. The group was then asked to submit materials to perform at the national level in 2012.

This year, the CHS Advanced Choir was selected through that audition process to perform at the National School Boards Association Convention in Boston, Massachusetts. The CHS Choral Program will be one of three high school music programs in the United States featured in this event which welcomes Directors of Schools, School Boards, and other governing officials for school systems from across the United States.

While in Boston, the CHS Chorus will also compete in a national contest with other competing high school choirs from across the country. Also, the group will have the opportunity to enjoy tours of Plymouth Plantation, the House of Seven Gables, and the Salem Witch Museum as well as the historic Freedom Walk.

This year, the CHS Choral Music Program will send over 20 students to perform with the Tennessee High School All State Choirs in Chattanooga, which places them among the top choral music programs in the state.

To any who might be interested in helping underwrite this trip, please contact Mr. Choate at Cookeville High School.
