A Poem: Church-Lady Food

Tools

By J. Watkins

Church-Lady Food

When life takes a sudden curve
And a stone is dropped in your lap
Your insides feel empty and hollow
And though it’s not as if you would starve
(No, not in our drive-through-we-deliver culture)
Nothing begins to heal you
(Like the taste of salt and butter from childhood)
Like the bounty of Church-Lady Food
