Our Problems--Nothing New

"But remember this - the wrong desires that come into your life aren't anything new and different.  Many others have faced exactly the same problems before you.  And no temptation is irresistible. You can trust God to keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can't stand up against it, for he has promised this and will do what he says.  He will show you how to escape temptation's power so that you can bear up patiently against it." I Cor. 10:13(Living Bible Translation)

None of us are immune to temptations.

hey can come often.

Now, most of our temptations aren't sexual nor are they sexually motivated (contrary to popular belief).  Most of our temptations stem from issues we never truly resolved - we never truly addressed.  We're tempted to live beyond our means which keeps us in debt.  We're tempted to payback!

Yes, our anger gets the best of us often and we want to hurt people who've hurt us intentionally or unintentionally.  We're tempted to lie.  We're tempted to neglect our responsbilities - at work; at home; and at church.  We're tempted to not improve our lives, so we continue to tell ourselves that we can't do any better.  And yes, we are tempted sexually too.  "No temptation is irresistible."  There's no such thing as "I can't help it!"

Yes you can because the Lord has provided a way for you handle your temptation - even providing an escape route to get away from it.  Sometimes the escape route is a simple as cutting up credit cards or deleting phone numbers from our contact lists.  Remember, the Lord has made you strong enough to stand up against your temptations!

You can do it because God has made you strong enough.  Hey, do you remember those old ads against illegal drugs?  "Just say 'No'!"  Be blessed with this truth.
