WHAT KIND OF CAR ARE YOU IN?

By Peggy Potts

As I was sitting in traffic last week, I found myself looking at the cars around me.  I sat there looking at the people, and I said God, there are so many lives you have to tend to.  Everyone of us depend on You, and there is not a thing You won’t do for us—if we only ask.

In these cars were ladies and gentlemen—of all ages.  I wondered what the blue car felt—could she be a Mom with 3 children and her husband had walked away.  She loves her children, and wants the best for them.  But she has to work all the time—just to buy groceries, and keep a place to live.  I begin to see tears fall, and I know her heart is breaking.

Oh my look at that red one with a young lady. The music is loud, and the cell phone is in her hand.  She has just graduated from college, and her new job is waiting.  Her excitement is overwhelming, and she has the rest of her life to become all she has ever imagined.  Her Mom and Dad have always prayed Colossians 1: 9

For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it have not ceased to pray and make special request for you asking that you man be filled with the full deep and clear knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things. 10 That you may walk live and conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the Lord full pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing, and increasing in and by the knowledge of God with fuller, deeper and clearer insight acquaintance and recognition.----- She would try to keep that prayer alive.

The green sporty vehicle sped up to the light.  A gentleman with sunglasses was behind this wheel.  I think this one is very sad and lonely—even though he looks all together.  His girlfriend has just left him for another.  His anger has mounted, and he is on his way to see the “new man”.
He can’t believe she’d leave him for someone who only works part-time, and lives in a lousy part of town.  How could she do this to him?

The navy truck stops.  This young man is trying to conceal he is drinking beer.  Where does the enemy come in, and  take us to a place where other folks around  just don’t seem to matter.  Or do we think  “I’ll never wreck and hurt anyone— I’ll hide what I’m doing so that policeman will never know.”  Oh the deception of Satan, and so many times we won’t see how close we are to disaster.

Then the white van moved into my path.  I bet she is the sports Mom who takes all the kids, makes the cookies, and all the parties are at her home.  Why do some Moms seem to have the ability to have this great patience—no matter how many are around—and some are always pushing the kids away.   And I would say the Dad of this white van is the best coach and friend. Wow—no wonder these children flock to their home—they feel accepted and cared for.

The list could go on and on, and the colors of the vehicles would just keep coming.  So many of us have had bad experiences as we grew up,  and this pain and hurt was never dealt with.  It is ease to carry around this weight, because somehow we forget or maybe never knew-- Christ delivers us from all unrest, and sadness.   He so desires all of His children to be free from hurts and disappointments caused ---in some cases—by the people closest to us.

So I guess one of the honors for those of us who know Jesus--- is to offer the love He placed in us to others.  I have heard it said—and I do believe this—people are just hoping for a way out.  They just don’t know where to go to find that place, and they allow shame and guilt keep them away from their freedom.

Luke 12:34 For where your treasure is, there will you heart be also.---So let’s look at folks we meet—as treasures.  We might not agree with their looks, manners, habits or other differences, but we can agree that we are all worth having the life God wants us to have.

You just might be that one link to opening a new world of the Love of God that could change a life.  Are you ready?  Just look around—they are there.

Many Blessings,
Peggy Potts
