We Live in a Warp-Speed World. Take Time to Pray

 “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-19

 
How often do we pray like this for others? How often do we pray for others? I venture to say that most of us pray for others regularly, but the pray probably is more like, “Lord, bless em’ real good!” Don’t get me wrong; that’s a pray that may be prayed for someone else – and it works. But it also lacks. It lacks a deep interest for that person, for prayer, and for the Lord.
 
How so?
 
Paul’s prayer includes an investment of time. This is not a prayer that you say as you’re rushing to open the door to your car, fall into your seat, rip and jam your seat belt into place, and speed off to…wherever. No, this prayer shows a strong sense of commitment and concern. Paul is looking at the Ephesians’ edification (“he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being”), reconciliation (“being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints”), and sanctification (“that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God”). The fact that it takes time tells God just how important this is to Paul.
 
We live in a warp-speed world.
 
We’re always busy – even when we have “nothing” to do. Take the time today to pray for someone who needs to hear from the Lord. I know you have a lot of responsibilities, but don’t forget that one of them is to be an intercessor.
