Cookeville H.S. Wrestlers Praised At School Board Meeting

At the Putnam County School Board Meeting last night CHS Principal Wayne Shanks, praised the wrestling team for placing fourth in the State of Tennessee.

Coach Cook then showcased each of the Cookeville High School’s Wrestlers that placed or won.

CHS had 8 wrestlers qualify out of 14 weight classes for TSSAA State Tournament.

The qualifiers were John Birdwell (130), Sean Bowling (135), Bart Brown (140), Chris Epperson (145), Ethan Henry (152), Joe Proctor (160), John Salada (171), and Nick White (215).

Of the 8 qualifiers 4 wrestlers medaled. 3 wrestlers made it to the finals (Joe Proctor, John Salada, & Nick White).

2 of the 3 won to be State Champs (Joe Proctor and Nick White).

Ethan Henry got 4th place.

Cookeville got 4th place as a team out of over 100 teams.

This is the highest place Cookeville has got at this tournament ever (the closest to this was 9th place in 2003).

Joe Proctor and Nick White are Cookeville’s Wrestling teams first State Champs.
