Roman Holiday Is Cookeville High School Prom

The Cookeville High School Prom transported students to a romantic, albeit upbeat, Roman holiday, without the Euros.

In a dramatic transformation by the CHS Prom Committee, the High School was a work of art -- literally.

"I couldn't believe it -- it was just breathtaking." said one student.

Hallways were transformed into Palazzos and Roman Streets and art (by students and others, and available for purchase) created a running tapestry as it hung everywhere.

Uptempo music was provided by a live band out of Nashville, Burning Las Vegas.

The creation of furniture (yes, creation of furniture) and architectural elements were undertaken and overseen by the ambicious team of Bruce Anderson, Mitchell White and Cephas Ablakwa with artful contributions by Robin Ford and Faye Watts.

From a columned entry to magnificent backdrops and small seating areas, the area was at once intimate and inspirational.

Some described it as an "incredible movie set" while others simply thought it was "wonderful."

It's clear that these dedicated teachers and students put in countless hours to create a night to remember -- and it is equally clear that they achieved their ambition.
