Saturday, May 30, at 1:00 P.M. at Upperman High School, a student-built house will go on the auction block.

Such construction projects have become an annual focus for Mr. Holcomb and his 100 plus students, who learn everything from computer aided drafting to practical construction skills in the process.

Last year, Mr. Holcomb, a former construction expert, purchased the house at auction. He knows what goes into the building and says he thought it was a good investment at a good value.

While it is not absolute, the base price is expected to be $35K.

Even with the house moving fee, this brand new house should come in at a very low cost per square foot.

"I barely touched a hammer this time," said Holcomb, "the students did it all." From framing to plumbing to electrical work, the carefully managed project passed inspections easily and met national standards.
