Howling Good Time At Cookeville's Dogwood Park

Tools

By Ward Norris

Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at Dogwood park, a bluegrass trio known as the Howling Brothers took the stage and filled downtown Cookeville with music that sprang from the Cookevillian Appalachian Well.

The music was simply outstanding.

Bluegrass is an earthy, southern sound, in and of itself, but the Howling Bros. take it to a new dimension of raw physicality. Listen to this song about a rabbit in a log.

Ian Craft tears up the fiddle, banjo, and mandolin, while pulling out raw, nee impudent vocals that carry the song through a hurricane of emotion.
Vocalist Jared “JJ” Green, also playing the guitar and harp, punches the doe dobbins out the tunes.

Stand up bassist, J T Huskey raises the bar on funk-ti-fied bluegrass.
The Howling Brothers--Pure speed, pure talent, pure emotional, and pure pleasure.
