Will Citizens Pay for Fireworks on the 4th?

Fireworks, Motorcycles and Rock and Roll will be in abundant supply this fourth of July, according to organizers for B Rock (JWC Broadcasting).

According to their website "we asked ourselves what are the three loudest things you can think of, and we came up with Fireworks and Motorcycles."

"We'll rock. We'll ride. We'll blow stuff up." says the B Rock website.

Billed as the Moto X Jam 4th of July Spectacular, this year's fourth of July Event at the Fairgrounds comes with a price tag -- a first for the Cookeville area.

Some citizens have expressed concern, even anger, about the fact that there is a cost to this year's event.

What many do not realize, say insiders, is that there are no city funds available for fireworks.

Events in past years have been privately funded by organizations like JWC Broadcasting, and, in a flagging economy, sources say that JWC cannot continue that level of community altruism.

In order to continue the event, the organization appears to have opted to create a profitable event that incorporates Fireworks for the fourth.

"I think it's a wonderful thing for them to do," said one citizen, "but I had no idea that the city wasn't paying for fireworks all of this time."

Saturday's event will run from 4 -10 in the evening with the fireworks show at 9:30.

Music talent will include: Framing Hanley, Red, Cavo, Wake the Light, Knapsack Heroes, Gentlemen at Arms.
