On one hand we have qualified for the State Duals Tournament for the first time in the history of the program, but on the other hand, we were just a few points away from our first Region Duals Championship.
We are heartbroken tonight, but the guys did what they came here to do tonight, and that was fight harder than they have ever fought before.
We had guys tonight come back and wrestle opponents that had beaten them badly earlier this season and close that distance to 1 or 2 points. We are better, just not good enough yet, but we will be there in the end.
It is an honor to be one of the 16 elite teams that make it to the State Duals, now we have to focus on that.
We are proud to have the opportunity to represent Cookeville among the State’s best, and that is what our goal will be, to wrestle harder than we ever have and reach the highest possible level that we are capable of.
Tonight we will lick our wounds, but tomorrow we work harder and smarter. We will still have one more chance to bring home a region championship from the Traditional Tournament Feb. 12-13 and these guys will give it everything they have.
