Festive Fun and Frugal

Recently at the Cookeville Home Show the Festive, Fun and Frugal Seminar described how to make WOW centerpieces using boxes.

In this “Flower Tower” there are several inexpensive elements.

The first layer is wooden boxes.  If you do not have boxes of different sizes and shapes they are easily picked up in junk and/or antiques stores.  The base is a crate of some sort but basically a fruit crate or soda crate.  After that any square or rectangle box in various sizes will work.  You will need 3 or 4 boxes.

Stack them at odd angles so you have little places left for bowls, vases or candles.

Fill the bowls with fruit, candy, flowers or nuts.  Place these on empty ledges in the tower.

At the top add a great flower arrangement.  You can use a silver teapot as we did, filled with daisy, (beautiful and inexpensive), but any flower will look great.  If you use a clear vase fill the vase with lemons or limes.  They not only hide the stems of your flowers but also add interest.

This tower looks beautiful in front of a mirror or outside.  Place food around tower in a semi circle and add candles for a dramatic effect.

This idea is not only a festive and fun, but because the components are inexpensive it makes it frugal.
