CookevilleTimes attended the 6th annual Memorial Day Weekend Jammin' At Hippie Jacks. The festival started Thursday and ran thru Sunday evening. About 2500 people came from all over to join the festivities. Musicians from all over the Southeast joined Hippie and friends for the festival. The festival is held on "The Farm". The Farm is the home of Jack "Hippie" Stoddart and his family. It is in Overton County on the west fork of the Obey River.

The festival itself is a family friendly gathering of old and new friends who enjoy music and a good time. The festival brings people of all ages and walks. The music is great, the people are some of the nicest people you will ever meet, the surroundings are beautiful and the whole atmosphere is laid back.

Whether you just like to sit back and enjoy the music from your camping chair or whether you like to get up and dance with friends the music tent is for you. Music plays almost all day and well into the night. If ever you get tired of listening to music there are vendors for you to peruse or fields to play a bit of Frisbee or ball. Hippie Jack’s is a family friendly event. Children love music, and they love the relaxed time with loved ones. One of the favorite activities for children of all ages is to play with or learn to play with the hula hoop. There is also a children's tent where children can play and get out of the sun for a bit.

In many events, and in most music festivals, you never know what experiences the day may
bring. This year at Hippie Jacks was no exception. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ledbetter were wed on Saturday afternoon, with Hippie officiating, and with any and all festival attendees who so wished serving as witnesses. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Ledbetter, and best wishes.

"Jamming' at Hippie Jacks" really is one of the best festivals that this correspondent ever attended. There is no place you can go where you meet such great people while listening to great music. The atmosphere at the festival is like non other. If you have not made it out plan on coming for the September festival... and don't forget to bring the whole family.
