Wreck on Highway 111, Wednesday August 8

Emergency units were busy with a series of wrecks Wednesday afternoon, with the most serious on Highway 111 just south of Cookeville.

A motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Highway 111 when a vehicle entering the highway from South Maple Avenue struck him around 4 pm.

The man was airlifted from the scene of the accident to Erlanger Medical Center, but the extent of his injuries are still unknown at this time.

Also, approximately one mile north on Highway 111 was the scene of another accident around 8:30 pm involving two vehicles, a Ford Lincoln and a Jeep Cherokee.

Similar to the earlier wreck, a vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 111 when a vehicle crossing the highway’s intersection struck it.

According to emergency units on the scene, no one was injured.
