“So many exciting events are happening here,” Luna said, “and I am looking forward to working with a very enthusiastic staff and board of directors at the Chamber.”

Jim McGeehin, General Manager of Flowserve Corporation, will begin his yearlong term as chair-elect.

Lawrence will succeed Allen Ray as immediate past chairman.

Luna is a senior partner with Luna & Birdwell Investment Group, a full-service securities brokerage firm.

Luna has worked in the financial services industry since 1985. A TTU graduate and veteran of the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Submarine Program, he is past president of the Rotary Club and past chair of WCTE’s Board of Directors.

For 16 years, he has been the voice of the Golden Eagle Marching Band.

The Chamber of Commerce is closing in on 800 members who represent approximately 16,000 employees.

“Our Chamber of Commerce, through the Highlands Initiative, works together in a team effort with city and county governments to create and retain quality jobs for its citizens while improving the quality of life in our community,” Luna said.

Luna added by saying he strongly supports buying locally and encourages Chamber members to do business with other Chamber members as means of community and economic development.

Chamber President/CEO George Halford believes strong volunteer leadership is pivotal to the Chamber’s success.

“Our volunteer leadership deserves enormous praise,” said Halford. “Their continual efforts have helped us reach new heights of progress in boosting our regional economy and creating an attractive climate for business, and I have faith that our new slate of leaders will help the Chamber continue to flourish.”
