The Extended Benefit program (EB) is a Federal extended unemployment insurance benefit program that is operated by the State of Tennessee. Unemployment figures are examined on a weekly basis, comparing them to the most recent thirteen week period.
On 3/28/11, USDOL informed the Agency that, based on the most recent examination, Tennessee has triggered-off the EB program as of Week Ending 03/26/2011.
That means extended benefits to some between now and April 15, 2011 to some claimants who reportedly will receive a written notice of this event.
Because of this trigger-off event, EB claimants have been removed from the Debit Card change-of- payment scheduled for April. EB claimants will continue in the payment method currently being used for the delivery of their unemployment benefits: paper check, debit card or direct deposit.
Those individuals who are currently on Emergency Unemployment Compensation Tier – 4 will continue to transition to EB until 4/15/11. No new EB claims will be established after 4/15/11.
Those individuals that are currently receiving EB payments will continue to receive them until benefits are exhausted or the week ending 04/16/2011 whichever comes first.
This change regarding the conclusion of the EB Program supersedes the maximum entitlement provision of any EB claimant’s EB Monetary Entitlement Determination letter. No EB payments will be made after the week ending 04/16/2011.
