Easy Targets Be More Alert

Cookeville Police Department

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on March 4, a female customer entering the Big Lots store was robbed of her purse.  The suspect, described as a white male possibly in his late teens to early twenties, wearing sunglasses, had been in the store for several minutes.  He was likely looking for an “easy target.”  As the 88 year-old customer and her sister exited their car, the suspect entered the front area of the store.  As she entered the outer door the suspect ran toward her, grabbed her purse, and ran to the west.  The victim was uninjured.

At approximately 10:20 p.m. on March 4, a Domino’s Pizza delivery person was robbed on West 17th Street.  The employee delivered the pizza to the address, which appeared to be a vacant house, given to him.  As he approached the residence, he observed the suspect standing outside.  As the two were completing the transaction, a second suspect approached the victim from behind, grabbed him and began hitting him in the head.  Both suspects removed money from the victim’s pants and ran to the west.  The only suspect seen by the 37 year-old victim was described as a white male approximately 5’10” with average build.

Both of these robberies are active investigations with CID personnel pursuing several leads.  They are being compared to the Ashley Furniture robbery Monday evening in an attempt to determine if the same suspects are involved.

If anyone has information concerning either of these three robberies they are asked and encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 520-7867 or Lt. Carl Sells at 520-5306.
