By Amy Jennings

Putnam County Habitat for Humanity, in recognition of World Habitat Day, on Monday, October 4th would like to invite the public to come to the Tech Pride Room at Tennessee Tech University campus and help spread the word to the world about the lack of decent housing in our community and around the globe.

From 10am-2pm, adults and children alike are invited to come and write letters, send emails and color postcards to send to companies and businesses who already support and donate to Habitat for Humanity and to advocate to our local and state leadership to support legislature that would create more opportunity to eliminate poverty housing on a global level.

Over 1 million people currently live in poverty housing, many of them are in our own backyards.  Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to helping every family get into a safe, decent, affordable home.  World Habitat Day will also include guest speaker, Dani Tayar, National Director of Habitat for Humanity in the country of Lebanon.  A box lunch will be provided at noon for only $6.  For more information about World Habitat Day visit
