The Foundation at Cookeville Regional Medical Center Board of Directors is entering its fifth full year of operation. To preserve the continuity of the board, the board's nominating committee recently recommended that the current officers David Horner, president; Steve Boots, vice president; Kevin Bowling, secretary; and Bob Duncan, treasurer ‹ continue in their present positions for an additional one-year term.

Four new board members were also elected at the last meeting: David Hatcher, Compass Group; Jim Hughes, Builders Supply president; Randel Wallace, CPA; and Doug Dycus, M.D. The new board members join the current officers listed above, along with Brenda Floeter, Jason Gaw, Jim Martin, Lem McSpadden, Carolyn Medley, John Story and Marla Williams.

Those recognized as outgoing board members were Bobby Davis, who served as the first president of the Foundation board for three consecutive years; Drue Huffines; Craig Maltman, M.D.; and Op Walker. In addition, the following individuals serve The Foundation Board in an ex-officio capacity with a voice and no vote: Cookeville Mayor Matt Swallows; Seay Brown, CRMC Auxiliary president; Menachem Langer, M.D., CRMC CEO; Paul Korth, CRMC CFO; Steve Qualls, Hospital Board of Trustees chair; John Beal, CRMC VP-Legal Affairs; Tim R. Collins, M.D., CRMC chief of staff; and Gary Curto, CRMC Foundation executive director.

Foundation board members serve in a volunteer capacity and meet on a quarterly basis. They are allowed to serve up to two three-year terms, are elected through a Foundation Board Nominating Committee process, and are approved by the Hospital Board of Trustees.

As a nonprofit, The Foundation is established under IRS guidelines as a 501(c)(3) public charity so that all contributions to The Foundation are tax deductible to the full extent currently allowed by law.

The Foundation exists as an independent organization exclusively to benefit the mission of Cookeville Regional Medical Center. It is the responsibility of The Foundation board members to set policy, develop operational guidelines and procedures, and assist in establishing specific objectives as they relate to The Foundation¹s primary purpose ­ to raise funds that will assist the hospital in three major ways:

a. Support patient assistance programs

b. Assist in the purchase of equipment and furnishings for the
hospital

c. Develop a permanent endowment program

An additional volunteer organization has been formed to support The Foundation. Under the leadership of Op Walker, a 30-member Foundation advisory committee has been organized. This group lends support to The Foundation board on an as-needed basis, as time permits.
