Free Mammograms for Women of the Upper Cumberland

For women 40 and over mammograms are a yearly-recommended screenings, but what happens to those who are uninsured? Well, most likely they do not get the screenings they need and you may be surprised by how many women in the Upper Cumberland are in this situation, but thanks to a new program women now have more options.

Because of this tremendous need, a grant was provided by the Susan G. Komen Foundation to partner with The Women’s Center at Cookeville Regional to provide women with mammograms and vital education.

Not only will the women be receiving a screening mammogram, but they will also have a clinical breast exam by a certified breast examiner and they will also see a video about how to do a breast self exam.

The free screening days will be held on several Saturdays throughout the year. After the exam is complete the women will receive a complimentary tote bag full of information.

Those dates are July 19, August 23, September 27, November 1 and December 6.
