New Physician joins staff at Cookeville Regional

Physiatrist Thomas Gannon, D.O.

Physiatrist Thomas Gannon, D.O., has joined the staff at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

A physiatrist specializes in restoring optimal function to people who have experienced injuries to the muscles, bones, tissues and nervous system, such as stroke patients, with non-surgical methods.

A native of Putnam County, Dr. Gannon will be the Medical Director of the Rehabilitation Center at Cookeville Regional in addition to operating an office for outpatients.

He earned his medical degree at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, where he also completed a Manipulation Teaching Fellowship. He went on to Eastern Virginia Medical School to complete a residency in Psychiatry.

In his office with the Physician Associates at Cookeville Regional, Dr. Gannon will be caring for patients with physical medicine and rehabilitation needs.

Part of his practice will include acupuncture and osteopathic manipulative treatment, or OMT.

OMT is a hands-on treatment technique used to diagnose and treat patients. It involves moving the joints and muscles using techniques such as stretching, gentle pressure and resistance.

Dr. Gannon’s office is located at 406 North Whitney Avenue in Cookeville.

He is pleased to return to the Upper Cumberland region and looks forward to caring for the medical needs of our community.
