The Senior Center of Overton County was recently honored to have Overton County Mayor Kenneth Copeland serve local seniors at the Senior Appreciation Luncheon on May 25.  The luncheon was put together in coordination with the Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA).

“We would like to extend a special thanks to Mayor Copeland for taking the time to help us in serving meals to the people within his community,” Phyllis Bennett, UCHRA Executive Director said.

Copeland adorned plastic gloves as he dipped out apples for the seniors served in the center.  It was an informal and much appreciated way for him to get to speak with people in the community and assist with the more than eighty meals that were served and delivered during the luncheon.

The meal was served in accordance with Older Americans Month, which helped the UCHRA Nutrition Program raise money for the Elderly and Disabled.

UCHRA serves meals at the Senior Center of Overton County every day as a part of the congregate meals program.  They also deliver meals to those people that are unable to leave their homes to visit the center.
