The Foundation at Cookeville Regional Medical Center Board of Directors is entering its fourth full year of operation.To continue the continuity of the Board the nominating committee recommended that the following officers:former board vice president David Horner, owner of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner funeral home, has been elected president of the board; former board secretary Steve Boots, branch manager UBS financial services, was elected as vice president; Kevin Bowling, vice present of PrePak Systems, was elected secretary; and Bob Duncan, CPA will continue his role as board treasurer.Horner replaces Bobby Davis who concluded nearly 3 years as the Board’s inaugural president serving since its formation in February 2007.
One new board member, Lem McSpadden, owner of A Plus Home Inspection, was also elected at the last meeting.Other returning board members were elected to a new three year term through 2013 included: Steve Boots, Bob Duncan, Marla Williams, attorney, Legal Aid Society and Carolyn Medley, retired school teacher.
In addition, the following individuals serve The Foundation Board in an ex-officio capacity with
a voice and no-vote – they include: Steve Qualls, attorney, President of the Hospital Board of Trustees, Ginny Smith, President of the Hospital Auxiliary, Bernie Mattingly, Hospital CEO, Paul Korth, Hospital CFO, John Beal, Hospital VP-Legal Affairs, Tim R. Collins, MD, Chief of Staff and Gary Curto, Foundation Executive Director.The new mayor elect will also serve in an ex-officio capacity..
Foundation Board Members serve in a volunteer capacity and meets on a quarterly basis.They are allowed to serve up to two – three year terms and are elected through a Foundation Board Nominating Committee process and approved by the Hospital Board of Trustees.
As a non-profit, The Foundation is established under the IRS guidelines as a 501(c) (3) public charity with all contributions to The Foundation tax deductible to the full extent currently allowed by law.
The Foundation exists as an independent organization exclusively to benefit of the mission of Cookeville Regional Medical Center.It is the responsibility of The Foundation Board Members to set policy, develop operational guidelines and procedures and assist in establishing specific objectives as they relate to The Foundation’s primary purpose – To raise funds that will assist the Hospital in three major ways:
a.Support of patient assistance programs
b.Equipment & furnishings for the hospital
c.Development of a permanent Endowment Program
An additional volunteer organization is in place to support The Foundation.Under the leadership of Op Walker, director of the hospital pharmacy, a 30 member Foundation Advisory Committee has been organized.This group lends support to The Foundation Board on an as need basis as time permits.
