Putnam County Recognizes National Law Enforcement Week

By Ward Norris

May 11-19 is National Law Enforcement week, celebrated since 1962, when President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as National Peace Officer’s Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls as National Law Enforcement week.

The purpose of this national focus is to encourage public recognition of productive and positive contributions by law enforcement.

Putnam County Sheriff David Andrews commented about the challenges in law enforcement today in the Upper Cumberland, as well as recent trends.

This interview is part of a week-long series on area Law Enforcement during National Law Enforcement week.
