From noon to six yesterday afternoon, the commons area at the Cookeville High School became the Magic Moments Bridal Show sponsored by radio station, Magic 98.5. Close to 50 vendors (the largest grouping in the history of the show) were present to help brides plan their upcoming weddings.
While there were several bridal giveaways, the grand prize was offered by the Magnolia Room at Southern Hills Golf Course which went to Heather Helms.
The large lines of brides and family going into the CHS auditorium for the fashion show created a concern that there might not be enough seats, however all managed to squeeze in to a very full auditorium. The program began with some skits performed by station celebrities at Magic 98.5, and the laughter of the attendees proved that they were entertaining and funny.
The show itself had 72 models, many of whom were provided by the Genesis Career College. Dresses came from the Country Bumpkin Boutique, and make up was done by the Beauty Queen Boutique. Other sponsors included the.Magnolia Room at Southern Hills, Elle Odom photography, and Wedding Daze Events, while One-Hour Martinizing provided some of the tuxedos. The dresses that were modeled ranged from $299 to $999 from the Country Bumpkin Boutique. One dress modeled originally had retailed for $25,000 but was on sale for slightly over a thousand.
According to Station Manager, Jonathan Monk, the event grows year after year with the fashion show also increasing in size and quality. Monk said, "The show was well organized... one of the better ones I've seen."
