Perdue Farms Announces Layoffs

Perdue Farms Monterey plant has announced to employees that they will lay off around 60 people from one of their packing lines.

In a posting to employees, Perdue Farms said that, effective July 11, Packing Line No. 3 will halt operation. The announcement told employees that only line three would be shut down and that they would continue to operate other lines.and use equipment more effectively. The positing to employees asking for voluntary lay-offs first from anyone at the Monterey plant. The announcement stated also:

“Perdue is a solid company and is well positioned to adapt to the ever-changing business situation and to succeed. We assume the commitment to expand our business value-added, and hope operate the plant at Monterey hundred percent of their capacity in the future.

Mayor Ken Wiggins said that he was also officially informed.
