Melissa Gwen Sweat

(In The Picture ) Melissa Gwen Sweat, a 41 year old Cookeville woman was arrested for Leaving the Scene of an Accident and a False Police report in reference to the accident. Cookeville Police Officers used a K-9 to track the route of the driver of the car after leaving it abandoned against a tree that it had crashed into. The K-9 Rocdo traced the scent back to the Sweat resident, so the Officers determined that Ms. Sweat's report that her car had been stolen was false. Later Sweat stated that her son had taken her vehicle and had crashed into the tree and she came to the scene and inspected her vehicle then called to report it stolen.

No suspects in a Burglary of a Vehicle on Carolina Avenue. The victim went to the police department to complain that a white male was seen running from his unlocked truck where he reported that several items were taken including Hydrocodone and Xanex pills.

No suspects in a Burglary of a vehicle on Laurel Avenue. It was reported that a white male getting into a 1998 Toyota Camry had taken some CDs from his locked vehicle.

No suspects in a Theft of Property on Proffitt Street. A Cookeville woman complained that a friend she had met stopped by and left in a Taxi. Afterwards she noticed her wallet missing.

No suspects in a Theft of Property from a coin or vending machine on E. Spring Street.
