Taking Action Against DUI on the 4th

Tools

By Christy Aust

Driving under the influence historically increases exponentially during holidays like the 4th of July, and Cookeville Police have prepared measures to combat this trend.

Four hundred fatalities from DUI occurred in Tennessee alone in the past year. Sergeant James Harris says that this statistic is unacceptable.

Drivers need to accept responsibility for themselves and others, says Sergeant Harris.

Additional hazards, like fireworks, outdoor grilling and fires also have police on the alert.

Through education and early detection, police hope that citizens will take extra caution with their actions this fourth of July holiday.
