Police Confirm McNair Case A Murder-Suicide
Sahel Kazemi and Steve McNair. The investigation into the death of former Tennessee Titans Quarterback Steve McNair confirmed Sunday that McNair was murdered. Today, Metro Police confirmed that Sahel Kazemi killed herself after shotting McNair four times. Police Chief Ronal Serpas said "The investigation, science, techniques and 30 plus years of experience by the murder squad have concluded it was a murder suicide." Police testing of the gun show it to be the same weapon that killed both McNair and Kazemi. Kazemi reportedly bought the gun last Thursday after being stopped for DUI. It is believed the gun was purchased in the parking lot of her place of employment, "Dave and Busters" at Opry Mills. Surpas said that it is believed that McNair was asleep on the sofa when he was shot. He also said that it is thought by Investigators that Kazemi was sitting next to McNair when she shot herself as to fall into his arms. Surpas continued "Gravity obviously caused to to then slide onto the floor after shooting herself." It was also reported by some of Kazemi's friends that she was "ready to end it all" because of financial stress and she believed that McNair was involved with another woman. Surpas said that Kazemi apparently tried to follow the other woman in the days before the murder. He refused to identify her. The testing from the gun indicated that not traces were found on the hands of McNair which shows he had not shot the gun, but did find traces on Kazemi's hands. The former NFL star was found shot to death at a condo he rented in Nashville which was just across the river from LP Field, where the Titans play. Titans' Coach Jeff Fisher was in Iraq on an NFL-USO tour and found out in Kuwait as he was getting ready to board the plane to head back home. Fisher talked to the media on Monday at Baptist Sportsplex and said "The Steve McNair that I knew was a great person. He helped put this organization on the map here in Tennessee and put us in our first Super Bowl. … I will miss him, as you all will miss him.'' Fisher remembered all the times he had spoken about Steve in that media room. "We endured wins and losses, joy and laughter, sadness. I watched one of the greatest competitors of all time on the field do whatever it took to stay on the field, and I watched one of the best teammates you could have." As of today, police say that a motive in the case may never be known. Steve McNair is survived by his wife Mechelle and four sons Junior, Steven, Tyler and Trenton. A public memorial will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church on Thursday from 3pm until 6:45pm. A memorial service will then be held at 7pm. McNair will be taken to Mississippi for a funeral in Hattiesburg on Saturday at 11 on the camous of Southern Mississippi University. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be make to the Steve McNair Foundation, 1 Willow Bend Drive, Harriesburg, MS 39402. Most Popular |
