The Cookeville City Council has a light agenda for tonight's meeting.

The meeting will be at 6pm at City Hall.

The agenda has the second and final reading for consideration for the rezoning of an area near Tennessee Tech.

The properties include those between West 5th Street and west 7th Street and between Mahler Avenue and North Cedar Avenue.

James Mills presents the item to the council with the explanation that the zoning would change properties from MS "Medical Services" and CL "Local Commercial" to UNV "University"

The new business for tonight will be two items.

Ronnie Kelly will ask the council to consider authorizing the City Manager to execute an engineering amendment to the South Cookeville Hudgens Creek Sewer Project.

Also the council will hear from Greg Brown who will ask the council to consider award a bid for a concrete pipe for the Public Works Department.

The meeting will then be open to the public for comments or concerns. This may give some time to voice their opinion on the Guns In Parks issue before the council.

At the last meeting several residents turned out to make their thoughts known.

The council did postpone any action on this issue as to give the community time to make their comments.

The council will consider the issue again at the August 6th meeting of the council.

Councilman Ricky Shelton ask to postpone the issue for the purpose of giving citizens time to comment. Alma Anderson encouraged the public to call or e-mail the council with their input.

That will cover the council meeting tonight.

The next will be on August 6th.
