Individuals from across this country gathered to protest outside of news media stations in what they stated is a protest “against liberal leaning media outlets”.
In this area, the stations targeted in Nashville were CBS News (Channel Five) and ABC News (Channel 2).
Individuals from Putnam County, Dickson County, and Nashville peacefully gathered to hold their signs and share their experiences about their dissatisfaction with main stream media only portraying news from the left -- with Fox News being the exception to this.
Ellen and Bruce Rakes of Mt. Juliet talked about their visit to participate in the march in Washington, DC.
They quoted the movie, “I’m Mad as Hell and I’m Not Going to Take This Any More.”
The Rakes’ continued: “We had never done anything like this before.
The liberal left has been screaming and shouting all the publicity for years and years and all the moderate people have kept their mouths shut, been polite and it is time that conservatives who do make up the majority of Americans start speaking and we are.
In DC we saw no rabble rousing, and not one unkind word was spoken.
I have never experienced such nice polite people of all ages and races. It was just unbelievable!
It was non partisan, other than out of control government spending, they are passing bills without reading them, there’s no accountability and they are destroying the constitution. We have lost checks and balances and the government is out of control.”
There were media reports from the DC march stating they saw signs that said “Bury Obama with Kennedy”. We saw signs like that but they said “Bury Obama Care with Kennedy.”
There was nothing about burying the president there or anything else like that.
But then again that’s the media misrepresenting the facts. The DC Capitol police kept saying they had never seen such a well mannered crowd.”
Dickson County residents, George and Lisa Johnson, stated they have never been involved in this sort of thing before.
George stated, “They have angered me to the point that I am not going to stay quiet anymore. I’ll write the letters, I’ll make the phone calls, and I’ll be as big a thorn in their side as I possibly can.
I want my children and grandchildren to have the kind of country that our forefathers put in place for us.
We have children in the military that love this country and want to do what’s right for this country.
The media stations are reporting nothing.”
Glenda Pendell from Nashville said, “Can You Hear Us Now. It’s an event that’s going nationwide that wants to make sure that our voices are heard. They obviously didn’t hear and ignored the fact that over one million American’s marched on Washington.
They turned a blind eye, turned all their camera’s off because they didn’t want to face the facts.
The fact of the matter is Americans are mad and Americans have found their voice and stepping out and I’m one of those with a voice and I feel this is a way for me to fight for my freedom.”
James Tomlison from Old Hickery stated, “Give me the news as it happens. Give me both sides of the story and I’ll make my own opinion. I don’t want the media’s opinion. Keep your opinions to yourself.”
In attendance from Cookeville, TN was also Jeffery Judd, candidate for TN State House stated, “With our government corrupted and our politicians untrustworthy we should be able to trust that the free press would stand between them and us to report the truth.
But it seems by all accounts that our corrupt government and our greedy politicians have broken down the barrier and are using our free press as yet another tool to spread their propaganda and confuse the general public as to what the truth really is.
The news media makes their money from our consumption of the goods that their advertisers pay them to show us. The best way to put CBS, NBC and the rest in their place is to simply not to watch their channel. The ratings have shown that Fox News is doing something right.”
