According to Habitat for Humanity, "This Christmas saw three new families in a warm, safe, decent, and AFFORDABLE home - thanks to our community."
Three families that were living in substandard and cost-burdened situations, now have a new year to look forward to. "Now they can raise their children without the headaches and concerns of the past, but with a bright outlook. They know that they live in a community of loving people, who came together to help them change their lives!" said Habitat representatives.
"We have nine families waiting for the same opportunity. Nine families working hard and doing their part of our partnership - just waiting for us to tell them - YES we have the funds to build your home now!" said Habitat.
Habitat for Humanity wants to remind everyone that if you have year-end gift plans, we need to receive those gifts by Dec. 31st or be postmarked by Dec. 31st. You can now give securely on their new website and with a debit or credit card of your choice at www.pchabitat.org. While Habitat offices are closed this week, but you can also mail gifts to PCHFH, 728 E 15th Street, or drop them off when our ReStore is open (Tue-Thu, 9a-2p).
In addition to monetary gifts, the ReStore will be open this week accepting donations. Habitat encourages donations "If Santa was real good to you, which I am sure he was - you might have an extra television, recliner, or other furniture that you need to get out of the house. Just call us at 528-1709 and our ReStore truck will come pick it up and provide you with a receipt for your tax-filing purposes."
"Monetary and ReStore gifts are so precious and critical to our plans." says the organization. " We need to raise $2 million so we can develop our new neighborhood, build more homes, and acquire more land to develop over the next few years. We appreciate you sharing your treasures with our ministry and in the new year we hope you will educate others about this work. So many people still have misconceptions of our work and I know you understand that we are providing a hand-up to hardworking families that need an opportunity to provide a better home for their children. NOW MORE THAN EVER we need more of our neighbors coming together to build HOPE for local families."
