Celebrating the new year with our "Perfect 10" places to see and be in Cookeville includes a stop at the Beauty Queen's Boutique.

It made our list because of its status as a fashion mecca in our area, brimming with designer dresses that invite us to play dress up.

Owner Cindy Strong gave us a glimpse not only of the store and its merchandise, but an inside look at the history of a Baxter girl who became a beauty queen. It's a good story --- that happens to be true.

We liked that she includes fashion in a wide range of sizes and enjoyed exploring the jewelry and more in the store.

Strong says she believes its important to foster confidence in women of all ages and seems to work hard to create that reality.
