Winners of the "Star of Life" Award Honored
Tuesday, May 11th Putnam County EMS and Baxter Fire Department, accompanied one of their survivors, Bill Stines and family as they drove to Nashville. The family was and EMS professionals were recognized at the Star of Life Awards Ceremony presented by Tennessee Emergency Medical Services for Children. The ceremony presented actual patient scenarios and reunited the EMS caregivers with the individuals they treated from the eight EMS regions across the state. On the morning of April 15, 2009, Mr. Bill Stines was engaged in his usual routine when he collapsed, not breathing and with no pulse. Luckily his stepson, Donald Lynn found him within minutes and performed CPR and called 911. Baxter Fire Department and Putnam County EMS were activated. Mr. Stines was resuscitated and taken to Cookeville Regional Medical Center where a stent was placed. After a few days in the hospital Mr. Stines was discharged home with no long-term effects.
