While a lot of the local communities in the area participated in various, hometown Fourth of July Celebrations , the Bangham Heights Baptist Church, a few miles north of Cookeville (Washington Avenue beyond the High School) , had their own family celebrations.
This included a little country band playing some old time gospel songs and hymns, bean bag toss, dodge ball, a little radio racer car, and just lots of visiting and watermelon eating.
According to Director of Youth, Darrin Crockett, the annual event draws between 350 to 500 people each year. He also mentioned that there are other celebration activities throughout the year and that all are welcome.
From the church's website, we learn:
Music Worship - Our choir along with special guest singers lead our church family to praising God. The choir also participates in annual
Christmas and Easter Specials. Choir practice is usually after Sunday evening worship.
Youth - Our youth, in addition to Sunday School, participate in youth missions, recreation, fellowships, retreats and missions trips.
Teens can use what they learn about God's love and his purpose for their lives to help cope with their everyday experiences.
Children - We have a strong children's program and dedicated leaders to guide them. There are many teaching opportunities and many activities for our children.
Nursery - We have a nursery that is ready, willing, and able to look after your children while you participate in Sunday School,
Discipleship Training, and Worship.
Sunday School - We offer Sunday School classes for all ages - from pre-K to Senior adults. Dedicated teachers are available to lead
Biblically based lessons in interactive settings.
