On Wednesday January 25, 2012, the Cavalier Battalion and special guests Dr. Kathleen Airhart, former Putnam County Schools Director and SSG Jammie Williams, of the Tennessee National Guard assembled in the main CHS gymnasium to witness the Battalion Change of Command Ceremony.

To start off the ceremony, COL Nickey Philpot assisted by c/1LT Danielle Theophile promoted c/MAJ Emily Vergeson to Lieutenant Colonel. Afterwards, c/LTC Dylan Bowman, the current Battalion Commander spoke to the battalion thanking them for a great year.

Then Senior Army Instructor COL Philpot initiated the passing of the battalion colors from c/LTC Dylan Bowman to c/LTC Emily Vergeson, symbolizing the change of command. She gave a thoughtful speech, thanking SFC Frazier for his help and encouragement and thanking her mother for her support as well. The new Battalion Commander, c/LTC Vergeson dismissed her battalion, concluding the ceremony.
