Cookeville High School Prom 2011

The Cookeville High School Prom has become known for its dramatic transformations of the common space at the High School.  With draped walls and a virtual ceiling of lamps and inverted umbrellas, students were once again transported, this time to a spring garden setting evocative of a European setting.

The dramatic transformation by the CHS Prom Committee, the High School was a work of art – or actually several of them.

Said Principal Wayne Shanks, “I think this is the best yet.”   That’s saying a lot, given the years of previous achievement.

Hallways were transformed into Streets and cafes flanked by huge pieces of student impressionistic art, creating a running tapestry as it hung everywhere.

The furniture and architectural element creation were overseen by the ambitious team of teachers that included Mitchell White, Faye Watts and many others.   Student artists and contributors worked tirelessly to create the art pieces that adorned the “streets” and “cafes” throughout.
From a columned entry to magnificent backdrops and small seating areas, the area was at once intimate and inspirational.

It's clear that these dedicated teachers and students put in countless hours to create a night to remember -- and it is equally clear that they achieved their ambition.

I was very disappointed with the coverage with the festal of movement at TTU. It seemed the only school there was Algood. Almost all the pics taken was of Algood school. I think this was a slap in the face for the other schools that the students where from.
