When you hear the dreaded words “what’s for supper,” respond with “fiesta salad” or other easy, flavorful recipes that you can quickly prepare at home using leftover chicken or beef. 

1:00 PM          The Power of Pork

Chef Jason Gooch, Tower Café and J & M Catering in Nashville. 

Demonstration sponsored by the TN Pork Producers Association, and will include pork from Red Hill Farms.

When choosing healthy foods for your family, keep pork in mind.  Many cuts of pork are as lean or leaner than chicken, and provide a greater amount of vitamins and minerals. Pork tenderloin, for example, is just as lean as skinless chicken breast and meets the government guidelines for “extra lean.”

2:00 PM          Fun with Kids in the Kitchen

Drucilla Ray, Program Assistant with University of Tennessee Extension, and food writer.

To illustrate that kids really do love to cook, children in the audience will be invited help Drucilla make chicken pockets, apple turnovers and maybe a surprise or two.

·         “Drucilla’s Little Helpers” - a collection of recipes and humor from her newspaper and magazine columns.
