All the commissioners were present last night as the County Commission’s new chairman, Jerry Ford, facilitated the meeting.
The planning committee made the recommendation to sell 1.65 acres to the Cookeville. Electric department for a substation to serve the Highland business Park any amount of $13,906.20. After the motion was made and seconded Commissioner John Williams commented that he had taken a recent tour of the property and noted that work for building a substation had already begun.
County executive Kim Blaylock commented "It's just a matter of changing the deed. Right now the city and county both own it. It just needs to be put into the Cookeville Electric Department's name."
Commissioner Savage asked Ms. Blaylock where the money would go. Ms. Blaylock explained that it would go back into the economic and industrial development fund where we are paying for the business park expenses.
The Fiscal Review Committee recommended and received unanimous approval of budget amendments to the General Purpose School fund as presented.
The Commission voted on five (from out of nine nominees) to the Fair Board for three year terms to expire October 2014: Bilbrey, Farris, Randolph, Sadler, and Sliger.
The Commission voted the following to be on the the Beer Board for three year terms to expire October 2014: Randolph and Gentry.
The Commission voted the following to the Delinquent Tax Board with terms as follows:Anna Ruth Burroughs with a two year term expiring October 2013, David Gentry with a one year term expiring October 2012, and Marsha Bowman with a two year term expiring October 2013.
