Funeral services for Mr. Isam Shelvie Keith, 87, of Baxter will be held Saturday, February 27 at 11 a.m. at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Keith and Ryan Keith officiating. Interment will follow in Curry’s Chapel Cemetery in Jackson County.

Mr. Keith died Sunday evening, February 21, 2010 at Bethesda Health Care Center.

He was born December 17, 1922 in Jackson County, TN to the late Francis Marion and Elizabeth Burgess Keith.

Mr. Keith was a member of Friendship Church of God.

He was a retired Master Electrician having worked many years with Bud Wheel Co. in Detroit, MI.

Mr. Keith was active in many community and civic affairs. He served as Baxter City Alderman for eight years; was Chairman of Curry Chapel Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund; and member, past-president and Community Coordinator with the Putnam County AARP Chapter.

He was a member of Cookeville Masonic Lodge #266 F&AM; a 33rd Degree Master Mason; member and Past-President of the Scottish Rites Bodies-Valley of Nashville; member of Al Menah Shrine Temple; and member and Past-President of the Putnam County Shrine Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Callie King, Ruby Trawick and Lillie Guffy, three brothers, Comer Keith, Fred Keith and Jim Keith.

Mr. Keith is survived by his wife of 63 years, Willene McHenry Keith of Baxter (whom he married June 15, 1946 in Detroit, MI), son and daughter-in-law, Denis and Valerie Keith of North Easton, MA, daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Larry McRoberts of Warren, MI, brother, Mack Keith of Baxter, three grandchildren, Heather (Steve) Pike of Potsdam, NY, Ryan (Katie) Keith of Boston, MA, and Heidi Keith of North Easton, MA, two great grandchildren, Nicholas Pike and Brynn Pike and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Keith’s family will receive friends Friday 4 to 8 PM and Saturday 9 AM until service time at the funeral home. A Masonic Memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
