Algood City Council Fires CM Freddie Maxwell--Longer Version

Monday night, the City Council of Algood, Tennessee had a meeting--the primary objective being to legally vote to fire Freddie Maxwell.

The crowd expressed their frustration at the council's decision, with the apprent majority feeling like Maxwell had done a good job at being city manager.

This is an extended version depicting samples of the hour and a half city council meeting held Monday night in Algood, Tennessee.

Chief of Police, Jim Eldridge, spoke at the onset of the meeting, stating that he had no intention of denying the public their first amendment rights:

Congress shall make no law …abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

He asked that they remain in order throughout the meeting, in which public commentary was not on the agenda.

The citizens of Algood and City Council of Algood had much to say on the subject.
