Putnam County Commission: Jail Expansion!

In a nutshell, in a very generous gesture, Maureen E Patton donated her property to Putnam County, Tennessee, and the commission voted to receive it.

Velma Thompson's donated doll collection was voted to be accepted by the county.

By a vote of 13-10 the Commission approved to build a legally adequate jail at an off-site location with immediate pursuit of land options and exploration of green field locations.

Also included in this was exploring the potential of working with other counties to come up with a regional jail that would be under the direction of a multi-county "Jail Authority."

The County Clerk's office will move from its current site to the old health department, and since ramp access is available to all floors, an elevator will not be installed in said location.

The Commission also voted approval on the Automatic Aid Agreement between the Putnam County and Baxter Fire Depts.

They voted to transfer a vehicle from the Sheriff's Dept. to the Monterey Fire Dept.

The general purpose school fund was approved without discussion or debate.

$221,405 of budget amendments were approved to the County General Fund.

Budget amendments were approved that included: $120 to the Debt Service Fund, $92,466 to the Industrial/Economic Development fund, and $30 for court cost to the Juvenile Court.

They approved a Capital Outlay Note for the purchase of an Extrication Truck for the Rescue Squad not to exceed $175,000.

And the Commission approved a resolution to authorize the filing of an application to the Tn.Dept. of Economic and Community Dev. for a "Fasttrack Infrastructure Development Program Industrial Grant for Drainage and Storm Sewer for Advocacy & Resources Corp. (ARC) in Putnam County.

Wayne Nabors delineated all of the Notaries who were all approved.

And Johnnie Wheeler announced that the discount drug card program, designed to help people in need with their prescription medicine, was going well.
