Oink! Oink!
I certainly don't support members of Congress taking money for pork projects. They make pledges to not seek pork money for projects that look and sound good--all geared toward their re-elections, but it's their actions that matter. Senator Alexander is nothing more than a disgusting RINO who is looking to ensure his re-election in 2014.
It's nothing short of blatant bribery. We should send him home to Maryville ASAP. Unfortunately we will have to wait for four years to do so. By that time, voter apathy will have probably kicked in, and he will remain ensconced in Washington. Term limits at the ballot box for all big spenders is the answer. Deficit spending will be the downfall of America, and pork barrel politicians are the scourge among us.
How about that Senator Lamar Alexander?
Did any person ever think that he was not a tax and spend RINO? Put special emphasis on the word "spend."
He wants more of that $252M for his pork projects, 54 of them to be exact. That's well over half of the money that the Middle Tennessee delegation wants for their pet projects in the 2011 Federal Budget that will start on October 1, 2010. There's talk that Dems won't pass a budget by October 1.
That means a lot of continuing resolutions will have to be passed after October 1. Maybe we'll see a shutdown of the Federal Government by Christmas. That won't be so bad. No Republican House members have pork requests. That means Alexander, Lincoln Davis, Bart Gordon, John Tanner, and Steve Cohen have made requests. Rep. Jim Cooper and Senator Bob Corker have no requests either.
Where does that pork money come from? Deficit spending--$14.3 trillion and rising. What's that old saying that Illinois Senator Everett Dirksen used? Something about a million here, a million there. Pretty soon we are talking real money. Now substitute the word billion for million. It won't be long before trillion will be used. Pretty soon our percent of debt will exceed America's GDP.
