NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS FOR GOVERNMENT -- CUT SPENDING

Tools

By Steve Moore

There is massive pork spending at the Federal level. The magic word in Washington is "bail out."

Give every Tom, Dick, and Harry government money.

Encumber our great-grandchildren to pay for the massive government debt that Congress keeps raising the limit on. What's the latest?

Some $13T. How in heck do we even envision that amount of money? I can't; I admit it.

It's the same at the State level. We have an approximately $1.7B shortfall in a $29B State budget.

And, the figures continue to rise.

Yet, government poo-bahs wring their hands. Cut spending some more. They whail about cutting some of the bone now.

Hogwash.

There's always fat and pork in the budget. Even on the local level there's fat.

The trouble is that politicians at all levels are worried about re-election rather than cutting spending.

Cut spending. Lower taxes. How hard is that?
