The Truth About How We Got Here
People need to know just who is responsible for this latest mess, and how our Congress has finally gone and done it,
bringing this country to the brink of economic collapse and quite possibly to a second Great Depression in this nation's history. But it goes far beyond even that, as we as a country have exported this contagion to all our "friends" around the world, which can potentially make this a worldwide financial and economic collapse. All of which will probably take our nation out of the running for the Miss Popularity contest.
As all this begins to sink in with the American people as to how severely this is going to hurt their families, personally, despite this rescue plan finally getting passed, I wanted to make sure that the anger is directed at the right people, naming names and letting the chips fall where they may. And for some, this is going to be a tough nut to swallow.
It's an election year, but this financial crisis has to do with politics and politicians. (Some will think the videos by Mouthpiece are) some kind of political campaign message. Sorry folks. Sorry that you're so oversaturated with campaign ads; candidates that never go into details; biased media coverage; talking points and mindless campaign slogans, none of which tells you anything to base your vote on.
Personally, my favorite from back in the 80s was, "Where's the Beef?" I bet you can't attach that slogan with the right candidate. No, it's for this reason that you can't recognize the truth, when it sits there right before your eyes. The ten minute montage, is showing you the actual articles out of the New York Times and the Washington Post, the actual soundbites from the hearings that were on C-Span*.
And (it shows) the chronological order of how this came about and how it led to this mess. It names the legislative acts that were passed by which President and which Congress and how it morphed into what eventually brought about the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and make no mistake about it, our current worldwide mess has its roots firmly
planted right here. And it's all there for the world to see.
Who conjured it up...who massaged it...who protected it...who defended it right up til the end. It also shows you who raised alarms about it...who tried to do something about it...who warned about the coming collapse...who tried to legislate its control...and who fought to bring that legislation down in defeat. It was only natural then, for the originator of this piece of work, "the Mouthpeace", to draw the conclusion at the end, after all that was seen and heard, to push for McCain over Obama, basically telling the viewer that if you are as angry as
he is over what Congress has done to all of us, then you need to punish the democrats and vote in McCain along with a republican Congress, thereby removing the Chris Dodds and the Barney Franks from their roles of chairman
to these important committees.
And what makes this all the more outrageous, after you know who's responsible is to see who was involved with trying to fix this mess. And while the world was waiting to see what the United States was going to do to promptly address this
calamity, which was resulting in banks and insurance companies dropping like flies in both this country and in the rest of the world, our politicians were doing the only thing they knew how to do best. They began arguing and pointing fingers
at each other and pretending to be shocked and dismayed over these recent turn of events and how it got this way. A week went by with the carnage piling up and the damage reaching past the point of no return, and yet still the arguing went
on into the weekend.
And finally a vote, that resulted in defeat, because partisan feelings were getting hurt and no one wanted to let the other party gain an advantage in the Presidential election. Congress plainly came down on the side of themselves, their political posturing and doing everything to get themselves reelected. It was all about them! Their biggest complaint was the huge amount of taxpayer money and making sure
that everyone heard them say it was all George Bush's fault. But in the end, when they finally passed the bill, their true colors emerged, as they took that 700-billion dollar payout and ADDED another 157-billion dollars of pork to it.
And THAT'S what happens when you let the people responsible for this mess, be in charge of fixing it. They knew the bill had to be passed, so the urge to load it up with pork and earmarks became unbearable, like the junkie trying to score his next "fix". And yet another floor was added to the economic house of cards.
Never before has the anger of the American people been so high, except perhaps for the shock and anger of 9/11. But this is 9/12, the day when the people united together with a steel resolve to get the people responsible. I'm just making sure that the anger gets lasered in, on the right targets.
The only bright side to all of this, is that you're finding out the truth about it in time to walk into that voting booth for the first time armed with factual knowledge.
Here is the YouTube video that gives an overview...
*To compliment the above youtube....I'm giving you this one actually shows excerpts from a hearing in 2004
on C-Span, where a regulator has submitted a critical report on Fannie and Freddie...Listen to the democrats deny that there is any problem and THEN WATCH as the hearing turns into a vicious and sometimes racial attack on the regulator.
Here is more background/details on that 2004 hearing from National Review. You'll find it mid way down the article.
And even more can be found in this Washington Post article on the regulator who tried to stare down Fannie and Freddie..or as the Post entitled the article..."A Gutsy David Takes on a Goliath" Captain Bruce McLellan
