Let Restaurants Make Their Own Rules Relative To Smokers

Randy Rayburn is the poster child.

CHART or campaign for a healthty and responsible Tennessee will probably be advocating for the outlawing of unhealthy foods that they deem unhealthy from the market place.

Once these do-gooders get their noses under the tent, there is no end to their attempts to impose their wills on the rest of us.

To smoke or not to smoke should be at the discretion of the owner of an individual's workplace.

If you don't want to go there, it should be your choice--not under color of law by an intrusive government.

It never ceases to amaze me that government wants to limit smoking, yet desperately needs the tax revenue from tobacco sales for health programs.

SCHIP comes to mind. And what about the tobacco settlement money that was diverted to the General Fund a few years ago? Restaurant owners like Randy Rayburn should or may MYOB.

UPDATE:

The travesty of a colossal waste of money on Dogwood Park in Cookeville continues.

Back in November the Cookeville City Council didn't approve an expenditure for an ornate fountain with columns and a bowl for Dogwood Park.

That bid was $70,300 over budget.

Then at its December 10 meeting, it approved a bid of $261,900. They had budgeted $160,000 for the project.

They will tweak the cost of the park's irrigation system, so as to build the fountain.

Grants, bonds, whatever: It's still your money being sprayed into the air.

And, don't forget the Rails and Trails boondoggle from Cookeville to Monterey. It's still a waste of money, even though Cookeville is assuming only a portion of the cost.
