ENDORSING THE ONLY MAN STANDING FOR THE DEMS

Sorry, Governor Bredesen, but your endorsement of Mike McWherter--while a noble gesture, considering he is a fellow Democrat--won't do much to get him elected in November.

He has very little gravitas, and your coat tails are not strong or big enough for him to ride to the Governor's office in November.  The fact that he has run a Jackson beer distributorship doesn't give him experience to run the State of Tennessee as its Chief Executive.

Granted, he has a famous and recognizable surname, and his father was an affable Speaker of the House and Governor who still commands a big place on the Democratic stage, but Ned Ray McWherter has been out of politics since 1994.

His biggest accomplishment, arguably, came at the end of his second term as Governor when he, as a personal friend of Bill and Hillary Clinton, went to Washington and persuaded them to set up TennCare as an experiment for HillaryCare, their version of universal healthcare.

This was foisted on the people of Tennessee and has been a financial millstone around Tennessee's neck since 1994.  Early in this decade it threatened to bankrupt the State.

Voters are fed up with Democrats.  It's that simple.  Look to Virginia and New Jersey.  Look to South Carolina and California. Republicans took over the Governorships in New Jersey and Virginia.

Last November, Republicans are running strong in South Carolina and California. In Texas, Governor Perry thrashed U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison who was seen as just another Washington politician.

Tennessee Republicans expect independent voters and voters in swing counties to get out and vote in the August Primary and then again in the November General Election.  And, you can bet that Republicans will close ranks on August 6 to fully support the Republican governor standard bearer.

With the very real possibility that the GOP will decisively control both Houses of the Legislature, Republicans relishing the fact that the State Capitol will belong to them exclusively. Conservatives will be in complete charge for the first time in many years. Perhaps as never before.

Republicans bring three capable candidates to the Primary election. Two have legislative experience while one has executive experience as a Mayor.  Really now, wouldl you have expected Governor Bredesen to have endorsed anyboty but Mike McWherter?

After all, he is a lone wolf in the whilderness--the only Dem standing.
