Algood Elementary Groundbreaking Ceremony
Several months ago the process of constructing new school buildings was facing the School Board and the County Commission.
After review, discussion and negotiating, the process is finally underway. Thursday the newest school groundbreaking took place in Algood next to the Algood Elementary. This new building will house the K-4 and the existing Algood school will be 5-8. Director of Schools, Kathleen Airhardt was glad to see the process moving forward with today’s groundbreaking being a start. As for what the expansion project will mean at Algood, Airhardt thinks the process is positive. The clearing of the property at the old location of Jere Whitson has begun in order prepare for construction to replace the burned out school. This work is necessary to prepare to break ground on that project. Prescott Middle is the third building project approved. It remains in the architectural discussion phase at this time. It is well before the process to start the construction phase. Airhardt says these projects are moving forward. Algood Elementary School "Groundbreaking Ceremony" was held on Thursday, March 13 at 1:00 pm. |
