A group of 8th graders from Avery Trace Middle School traveled to Washington, DC over Spring Break, visiting the Smithsonian Institute, the Nation’s Capitol Building, Arlington Cemetery and all of the war memorials.

On their trip, the ATMS group stopped at Mt. Vernon, where they were chosen to receive a replica painting of Rembrandt Peale’s “porthole” portrait of President George Washington.

Organizing the trip to Washington, DC was ATMS History teacher Jodi Dennis.

"This was a very educational and enlightening trip for our students, their parents and myself. I believe it was a trip they will remember and value for the rest of their lives, and my husband and I are honored that we could play a role in their Washington, DC experience," said Dennis.
